An Alfred and Plantagenet resident has been charged with murder following a death at a residence in Alfred on Thursday, February 22.
Mathew BRISEBOIS, age 30 of Alfred-Plantagenet, has been charged by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with Second Degree Murder – section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. The accused remained in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for February 26, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal.
Members of the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment and Prescott-Russell Paramedics responded to a residence on County Road 17 at the west end of Alfred just before 8 p.m. on February 22, 2024. Timothy PROVOST, age 32, was located deceased in an apartment.
A post-mortem examination confirmed the death to be the result of a stabbing injury.
On February 25, 2024, as part of the ongoing investigation, investigators arrested an individual at the Hawkesbury Detachment without incident.
The investigation by the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, continues in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
