The Navan Grads won the battle for second place against the Hawkesbury Hawks last weekend, taking back-to-back wins in home-and-home games between the two teams.

The Grads (12-5-2) won 4-1 in Navan on Sunday afternoon (November 13) – two days after a 5-3 win in Hawkesbury – to move four points ahead of the Hawks and into sole possession of second place in the Central Canada Junior Hockey League’s (CCHL) Yzerman Division. The Hawks fell to 9-5-1-3 on the season, but remain in third place in the division with 22 points. Rockland sits in third place with 19 points in 17 games.

Remi Gelinas had four goals, as the Hawks bounced back from the weekend with a 6-1 clawing of the Brockville Braves at home on Tuesday, November 15, in Hawkesbury’s fourth game in six nights. The Hawks kicked off the four-game run with a 7-6 road win over the Cornwall Colts on Thursday, November 10.

Hawkesbury is at home this Friday (November 18) to face the Renfrew Wolves at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex at 7:30 p.m. Renfrew sits in third place in the CCHL’s Robinson Division, with a record of 9-6-1-1. The Hawks then have a one-week break, before facing a rematch against the league leading Ottawa Senators at The Bob on November 25.

Tuesday, November 15 – Hawkesbury Hawks 6 Brockville Braves 1

Remi Gelinas scored four goals, Landon Brownlee and Nicholas Brennan added singles, while Dimitri Pelekos made 38 saves, as Hawkesbury improved to 10-5-1-3 on the season. Brockville, who had their lone goal from Luke Tchor, fell to 8-10-0-0 on the year.

Sunday, November 13 – Navan Grads 4 Hawkesbury Hawks 1

Landon Brownlee had the only goal for Hawkesbury, as the Grads swept the weekend series between the two teams with a 4-1 win in Navan.

Dimitri Pelekos was terrific in the Hawkesbury net, stopping 41 of 44, Navan shots, against 28 fired by the Hawks on Grads goaltender Braedyn McIntosh. Cayden Faust had two goals for the Grads, while Owen Parsons and Justin Mauro added singles.

Friday, November 11 – Navan Grads 5 Hawkesbury Hawks 3

The Hawks, who dropped to a record of 9-4-1-3, had two goals from Landon Brownlee and a single from Jakson Kirk, while Dekon Randell-Snow made 42 saves in the loss. Braedyn McIntosh made 31 saves, as Navan improved their season record to 11-5-2-0.

Thursday, November 10 – Hawkesbury Hawks 7 Cornwall Colts 6

Thomas Beaudoin, Jakson Kirk, and Jeremy Tremblay scored two goals apiece, Liam Faille added a single, while Dimitri Pelekos made 21 saves, as Hawkesbury improved to 9-3-1-3 on the season. Cornwall, who fell to 8-7-1-0, had two-goals from Nathan Garnier in the loss.
