“I liked the witch the best,” said five-year-old Evelyn MacKinnon of the puppet show at the Arbor Gallery – Galerie Arbor that entertained 17 children and 15 adults on Sunday afternoon, November 6.

Puppeteer Mary Vuorela received laughs and gasps from the crowd, as she told an original fairy tale, involving kings and queens, talking animals, a scary witch and a red horned unicorn.

Vuorela’s show, called Tabletop Stories – Little Shows for Little People, grabbed the children’s attention from the get-go.

“It is my hope that the show inspires the youngsters to make up their one stories, using their own toys or my characters,” Vuorela explained.

The show was offered free of charge thanks to a grant from Champlain Township. The gallery hopes to present more events for children in the coming year.
