During the week of October 24 to October 30, 2022, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to more than 430 calls for service. These included:

Domestic Dispute – Numerous offences

On October 24, 2022, shortly after 11:15 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Embrun.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old, from Ottawa, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Assault – Spousal CC 266 – two counts
  • Mischief – Domestic CC 430(4)

On October 24, 2022, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Bourget.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old, from Bourget, was charged with:

  • Assault – Spousal CC 266 – two counts
  • Mischief – Domestic CC 430(4) – two counts

On October 26, 2022, shortly before 11:45 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Rockland.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old, from Rockland, was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon – Spousal CC267(a) – two counts
  • Assault – Spousal CC 266
  • Theft Under $5,000 CC 334(b)
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm – Spousal

On October 30, 2022, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a disturbance on Limoges Road in Limoges.

During the investigation, it was determined that an altercation occurred between three individuals.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old, from Limoges, was charged with:

  • Mischief – Domestic CC 430(4)
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or bodily harm – Spousal CC 264.1(1)(a)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)
  • Sexual Interference CC 151
  • Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age CC 271

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

Stolen vehicle

On October 26, 2022, shortly after 2:45 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a suspicious person complaint on Russell Road in Cheney.

During the investigation, it was determined that three individuals were in possession of a stolen vehicle and property.

As a result of the investigation, three individuals were charged:

An 18-year-old male, from Ottawa, was charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)
  • Possession Break In Instruments CC 351(1)

A 16-year-old, from Ottawa was charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)

A 20-year-old male, from Ottawa, was charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order CC 733.1(1)

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

Three motorists charged with impaireds

On October 29, 2022, shortly before 6:45 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland, where an Ontario driver was arrested.

During the investigation, the driver fled the scene but was located shortly after by police and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old female, from Rockland, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Fail to remain HTA 200(1)(a)

On October 30, 2022, shortly after 5:45 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision on South Russell Road in Russell, where an Ontario driver was arrested.

During the investigation, the driver was transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old man, from Kemptville, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)

On October 30, 2022, shortly before 2:45 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a disturbance on Limoges Road in Limoges.

During the investigation, the driver fled the scene but was located shortly after by police and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old male, from Carlsbad Springs, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)

The motorists received a 90-day driver’s license suspension, and the vehicles were also impounded for seven days.

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
