For the month of November, sisters collective ‘Four Sisters’ will display watercolours, oils and pastels artwork in an exhibition that will run from October 27 to November 20 – with a vernissage on Saturday, October 29, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Always received warmly by Vankleek Hill’s friends and art enthusiasts, the sisters are excited to present their creations to the community. The Four Sisters are very close in spite of the distance that separates them – Jackie Mueller Jones lives in Ontario, Mary Ellen Mueller Legault in Québec City, while Carol Mueller and Deb Mueller Peate both live in Vermont. They have displayed their art as a collective for the past 20 years, pooling their talents and mutually helping each other to grow in the process.

Growing up in the West-Island of Montréal, the sisters are seasoned artists who have participated in several juried shows, and exhibit individually in Ontario, Quebec and Vermont. In their own words, “exhibiting together proved to be so successful that the tradition continues”. This will be their fourth exhibition at the Arbor Gallery.

String puppets show for little people

On Sunday November 6, at 3 p.m., Mary Vuorela presents Tabletop Stories – Little Shows for Little People. Set in a table-top theater, marionettes will act an original fairy tale for the pleasure of the little ones. The show lasts about 25 minutes and is followed by a question-and-answer period, where the little ones and their parents can ask the puppeteer any question they wish.

“We are happy to be presenting this show for little children for free,” explains Sylvie Bouchard, manager of the Arbor Gallery. “It is made possible thanks to a grant we received from Champlain Township for 2022, allowing us to expand our community-oriented shows accessible to all.”

Limited seating is available for the presentation. To register a young child (and parent) for this activity, [email protected], or phone the gallery at 613-518-2787.

“Frost the gnome has arrived at the gallery today and for the next few weeks, viewers of our Facebook page can follow him as he hides everywhere in the gallery, setting the tone for the Christmas Porch Tour’s treasure hunt on November 19,” says Bouchard.

Part of the BMA event, Arbor Gallery volunteers will be decorating the gallery’s porch and visitors will be able to do some Christmas shopping at the gift shop and with vendors.

Returning this year, Pop-Up Shops will start on November 12 until December 17. Some spaces are still available and can be rented by contacting the gallery. Visitors will be able to admire and purchase a variety of products, crafts and artwork that make wonderful gifts. A detailed list of popups is available on the gallery’s Facebook page.
