The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal incident on the Long Sault Bridge in Hawkesbury.

On Friday, October 7, at around 5 a.m., OPP officers, assisted by Hawkesbury Fire Services and the Prescott-Russell Paramedic Service responded to a person found with injuries. The injured person was transported to the local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.

Parts of the Long Sault Bridge and area are closed, while the cause of the incident is investigated.

Hawkesbury OPP continues to investigate with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and Reconstructionists.
