An Honest Lie, by Tarryn Fisher

I was first captivated with Tarryn Fisher’s writing with her novel, The Wives, and was left in surprise at her intriguing plot twist.

Suspense lovers will not be disappointed with Fisher’s latest novel – An Honest Lie. This title pulls the reader on an emotional roller coaster as the main character tries to separate her new life from her brutal past.

As we explore Rainy’s new surroundings, friends and life, she takes us back to a traumatizing cult-life childhood. Readers will feel like they’re being bombarded by endless waves with each and every reveal of childhood events. It is underestimated how strong a character can be after undergoing such hardships. Rainy has us all routing for her to overcome such dark sufferings – and new ones. Who are her new friends and her trustworthy husband? Does she really know them?

The oxymoron title is fit for the contradictory plot and a very indecisive main character. You will be flipping the pages to see what she is up to next!

Book review written by Alicia Heinzle, Children and Youth Librarian, Champlain Library – About Me: I absolutely adore creating new activities and programs for the children in our community to enjoy. I have two little ones at home that encourage me to embrace life-long learning and see the good in each day.
