During the week of August 29 to September 4, 2022, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to more than 495 calls for service. These included:

Suspicious person complaint – Numerous charges laid

On August 30, 2022, shortly before 4:45 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a suspicious person complaint on Route 600 West in The Nation Township.

During the investigation, it was determined that three unwanted parties were at the location, but two fled prior to police arrival.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old, from Montreal, Quebec, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Trespassing at Night CC 177
  • Mischief under $5,000 CC 430(4)
  • Possession Property obtained by Crime over $5,000 CC 355(a)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.

Domestic Disputes – Numerous charges laid

On August 30, 2022, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a suspicious person complaint in Embrun.

During the investigation, it was determined that an altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old, from Kingston, was charged with:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property CC 430(1)(a)
  • Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property CC 430(1)(c)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

On August 31, 2022, at approximately 8:15 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance in The Nation Township.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 58-year-old, from The Nation Township, was charged with:

  • Assault – Spousal CC 266

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

On September 3, 2022, shortly after 8:30 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Limoges.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old, from Limoges, was charged with:

  • Assault – Spousal CC 266
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm CC 264.1(1)(a)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

Disturbances – Numerous charges laid

On September 1, 2022, shortly after 12:15 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a disturbance on Jasper Crescent in Rockland.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old, from Rockland, was charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm CC 267(b)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

On September 1, 2022, shortly before 7:30 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a disturbance on Ottawa Street in Limoges.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old, from Ottawa, was charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm CC 267(b)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

Two charged with impaired

On September 3, 2022, shortly before 2 a.m., Russell County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE Program on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an ASD. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

A 37-year-old woman from Gatineau, Quebec, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)

On September 3, 2022, shortly after 11:45 p.m., Russell County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE Program on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an ASD. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

A 27-year-old male from Alfred-Plantagenet Township, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)

The motorists received a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicles were also impounded for seven days.
