While many events are returning for 2022, one event which will be conspicuously absent is the annual Beau’s Brewery’s Oktoberfest, which has been postponed until September of 2023.

Staff at the brewery toyed with a number of ideas for an Oktoberfest in 2022, including a smaller event at the brewery as in 2021, but ultimately decided that it would be best to wait until 2023 when a larger event can be held. Plans are to have Oktoberfest return to the Vankleek Hill Fairgrounds in 2023 in all its former glory. The scheduled dates are Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23, 2023.

“We just weren’t feeling like we could do it the way we wanted too,” said Jen Beauchesne, Senior Brand Manager at Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company, who said the company scrapped plans to hold a second ‘Oktinyfest’ in 2022. “We know that the Oktinyfest for the loyal folks, they want the opportunity to get together and have an Oktoberfest no matter what.”

“But to do it right we really want to come back with all guns blazing and we were just starting way too late to deliver the experience we want. We thought 15 months is going to get us to where we need to be.”

Restructuring at Beau’s due to the merger with Steamwhistle was also part of the decision, Beauchesne said.

“We’re rebuilding this year. We’ve rebuilt an events team and we’re getting back to sponsorships and donations, but we want to do it right. We feel that people deserve that after waiting so long.”
