Local environmental group Eco East is planning a virtual all-candidates meeting for the Glengarry-Prescott-Russell (GPR) riding on Wednesday, May 18, beginning at 7 p.m.

The purpose of the bilingual event, moderated by Max Richard Myre of Hawkmyer Media, is to inform residents about how candidates of the region will represent environmental interests if elected to the Ontario legislature on June 2.

To inform the event and discussions in the lead up to the election, Eco East recently concluded an environment-themed survey of Prescott-Russell residents’ concerns and priorities.

At the virtual event, questions will be posed to candidates by various groups in the region, including Action Champlain and Boisés Est, representing expertise and focus on an array of environmental themes.

The all-candidates meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday and anyone can sign up and join either via Zoom or by Facebook Live on the Eco East Facebook page.
