A man has been charged with Careless driving causing death in relation to a November 12, 2021, crash on McGill Street in Hawkesbury that took the life of a 27-year-old local woman.
On November 12, 2021 at 8:25 p.m., officers of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle, on McGill Street in the Town of Hawkesbury.
The pedestrian Melissa Girard, age 27, of Hawkesbury, Ontario was later pronounced deceased at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
On April 27, 2022, after a police investigation, a 59-year-old man from Hawkesbury was charged with Careless driving causing death, contrary to Section 130(3) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
The accused was issued a summons and is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Offences Court in l’Orignal on June 6, 2022
