To The Editor,
On Friday, the great wind blew a large pine down onto the power line in front of our house on Cassburn. Immediately it began to smoulder and my wife called 911. At the same time, neighbours to the east, west and north of us arrived in all manner of vehicles to cordon off the road in both directions and to caution approaching traffic.
Soon after, fire trucks appeared, although the imminent threat of fire had passed. Finally, a Hydro One crew came to assess the situation and remove the tree and restore power. A two-hour adventure!
I would like to extend a big “Thank you” to everyone who jumped into action, taking time away from family on the long weekend. Such self-less action is another reason we appreciate living in Vankleek Hill.
