Municipalité régionale du comté (MRC) d’Argenteuil council has given its approval to the Town of Brownsburg-Chatham’s plan to limit where tourist residences are permitted.

On March 9, the MRC council consented that the Brownsburg-Chatham regulation complies with the regional development plan. The changes create a new RU-330 rural zone from part of an existing RU-300 rural zone to allow tourist residences under the class of accommodation. Parking spaces for tourist accommodations are also to be limited to no more than 15 spaces and all exterior storage space must be contained.

The MRC’s approval of the regulation follows an initial approval granted by Brownsburg-Chatham council on February 1.

Study to proceed on Ice River plant expansion plan

A study will go ahead that will enable a possible expansion of an industrial plant in Lachute.

On March 8, MRC d’Argenteuil council followed an earlier approval given by Lachute council and approved a development study to be done on Strong Brook in the southeast part of town, north of Boulevard Cristini and between Avenue Bethany and Route 329.

The study is required before Ice River Springs can expand its water bottling plant, which is located nearby on Boulevard Cristini in the industrial park.

Ice River Springs produces bottled spring water for under private labels for various retail chains.
