Champlain Township council’s salaries, expenses and remuneration for attending committee meetings cost $232,809.35 in 2021.

Champlain Township Mayor Normand Riopel was paid $48,365.35, which includes $673.35 for convention, mileage and other expenses and $3,250 for committee meetings. The mayor’s salary amount was $44,442 in 2021.

There are two councillors representing each of Champlain Township’s four wards (L’Orignal, Vankleek Hill, West Hawkesbury, Longueuil). Each of the eight councillors was paid $22,503. Councillors Troy Carkner (Vankleek Hill) and Jacques Lacelle (L’Orignal) were reach paid an additional $390 for attending committee meetings. Councillor Andre  Roy was paid an extra $2,080 for committee meetings, while Councillor Violaine Titley (Longueuil) was paid $520 for additional committee meetings and Councillor Gerard Miner (West Hawkesbury) was paid an additional $1,040 for committee meetings. There were no expenses paid to councillors in 2021.

The municipality’s four committee of adjustment members (Marcel Arseneau, Kevin Hall, Murray Allen, Roch Pilon) were each paid $1,170, with one member (Robert Tolhurst) paid $910, for a total of $5,460 in 2021. The committee of adjustment reviews minor variances related to zoning bylaws.
