Two new student trustees from Plantagenet and Casselman have been elected to represent the voice of the students of the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO) at the council table for the 2022-2023 school year.
Maliyamu Matola, a Grade 11 student from École secondaire catholique de Plantagenet, and Marie-Pier Prévost, a Grade 11 student from École secondaire catholique de Casselman, were elected virtually by their peers to represent students in Grades 9 to 12.
Maliyamu Matola is a dynamic and dedicated student in her school community. A member of the Sénat des élèves du CSDCEO since Grade 9, she participates in the student council of her school. The causes close to her heart are the accessibility of networks and technological tools, multiculturalism and the environment. Having a good spirit of leadership, Maliyamu has everything it takes to be the spokesperson for the students.
Marie-Pier Prévost is an energetic student who is very involved in several school and community activities. A young leader in the making, she had the chance to attend the Parlement jeunesse francophone de l’Ontario and has been part of her school’s student government since Grade 7. Francophonie and eco-citizenship are causes that Marie-Pier wishes to advance during her term as a student councillor.
The CSDCEO is the largest network of French-language schools in the five counties of Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Prescott and Russell.
