October 24 is municipal election day across Ontario. As with all elections, it is important to make sure you are on the voter’s list for when the time comes to elect new mayors, councillors, and school trustees.

Municipal elections voters lists are compiled by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC), the agency which also assesses property values across Ontario. All residents, owners, or tenants of properties in each municipality who are 18 years of age or older are eligible to vote in municipal elections.

To make sure you are on the municipal voter’s list in your municipality, go to voterlookup.ca . The website allows Ontario residents to confirm they are on the list, to add a voter to an address and change their school board electoral support (public, Catholic, English, francophone). The website is maintained by MPAC, and all information is supplied to municipal clerks who oversee the election in each municipality.

Voterlookup.ca only updates the municipal voter’s list. The voter’s list for provincial elections is administered separately by Elections Ontario and the federal voter’s list is administered by Elections Canada.
