Officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two motorists with stunt driving, after they were observed traveling at high speeds on County Road 17 in Clarence-Rockland.

During the week of January 24 to January 30, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to over 290 calls for service. These included:

Stunt Driving

On January 25,  shortly before 11 p.m., a Russell County OPP officer was conducting stationary radar enforcement on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland. The officer observed a vehicle travelling at an excessive rate of speed and obtained a speed reading of 159 km/h in a posted speed limit of 90 km/h.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old, from Fournier, Ontario was charged with:

  • Race a motor vehicle – Excessive Speed HTA 172(1)

On January 30, shortly before 11:15 p.m., a Russell County OPP officer was conducting stationary radar enforcement on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland. The officer observed a vehicle travelling at an excessive rate of speed and obtained a speed reading of 120 km/h in a posted speed limit of 70 km/h.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old, from Montreal, Quebec was charged with:

  • Race a motor vehicle – Excessive Speed HTA 172(1)

The motorists’ driver’s licenses were suspended for 30 days and the vehicles were impounded for 14 days.
