Three firefighters were treated for burns resulting from a fire in the rural part of Lachute on Wednesday, January 19.

The Lachute fire department was called to a residence at 1910, Route 329 at 3:24 p.m. Crews were using standard procedures against the fire, but a sudden change in the situation exposed three firefighters to extreme heat as they made a strategic withdrawal. Their conditions were stabilized at the site before they were transported to hospital and treated for various burns. Their condition is not critical and two of the firefighters have already been released from hospital.

Nearly 40 firefighters from Lachute, Gore, Brownsburg-Chatham, and Saint-André-d’Argenteuil worked together for nearly five hours to contain the fire. The residence suffered significant damage. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause and the circumstances surrounding the fire.
