On April 1, 2022, La Soirée lip-sync returns to Top Shot Resto-Bar in Lachute as a fundraiser for Place aux Jeunes Argenteuil. If you want to look like a star and can move your mouth along with the music, this is your chance! The hopeful return of Soirée lip-sync was recently announced at a press conference in Lachute.

The event is normally held twice a year, but COVID-19 put the brakes on that in 2020 and 2021. The last time Soirée lip-sync took place was on November 15, 2019, said Éric Poulin, of Place aux Jeunes Argenteuil.

Anyone aged 18 or older may enter. Participants need to learn their songs and any accompanying choreography ahead of time.

Funds raised from Soirée lip-sync will be used to defray part of the cost of organizing exploratory stays to introduce 18-to-35-year-old graduates to the MRC d’Argenteuil, help them find a job in the community, and therefore help local employers find employees to fill job vacancies. The event is sponsored by Caisse populaire Desjardins d’Argenteuil.

Participation in Soirée lip-sync is free, but admission to watch the performances will be $20 per person. Poulin said it is too soon to tell if COVID-19 restrictions will affect the event, but believes Top Shot offers enough space to withstand any limitations there may be on audience numbers.

“We chose the biggest place possible,” said Poulin.
