The City of Clarence-Rockland wants its residents to know the reconfiguration of its computer systems has begun and is going well following a cyber attack on October 25.

However, as of December 9, the municipality is still unable to process pre-authorized payments for taxes, water and sewer as well as daycare services. Residents will be notified of the pre-authorized payment withdrawal dates as soon as they are known. No late-payment penalties will be applied.

There is no evidence that personal data was accessed or stolen following the cyber incident that occurred on October 25. The information was encrypted which makes it unusable. This has been confirmed by a reputable cyber forensics firm that has been retained to work with the municipality.

City operations continue and municipal employees now have access to their emails. Anyone who has attempted to contact the city in the last week via email and has not received a response is advised to resend their email.

The city thanks the public for patience and understanding.
