To the Editor:
The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, stood last Wednesday in the House of Commons and stated, “If the last year has shown us anything, it’s the impacts of climate change are here sooner than expected and they’re devastating,” Further, he promised to employ “the full power of government and the entire force of our commitment behind real, meaningful climate action.”
Yet he and his government have also quietly permitted plans to go forward for a massive cement plant just an hour south of Ottawa near the
village of L’Orignal which, when completed, will generate over 800,000 tons of greenhouse gas per year. The hypocrisy is simply breathtaking.
