Happy hour on Tupper Street in Hawkesbury will not be happening anytime soon.

Artist in Residence (AIR) Distillerie of Gatineau had been planning to construct a new distillery facility and restaurant on land near the corner of Tupper and Tessier streets this year, but only preliminary excavation has taken place.

According to Hawkesbury Town Planner Céleste Cordonnier, the project has been slowed down for unspecified reasons and is not advancing as originally anticipated.

The Review attempted to contact AIR Distillerie owner Pierre Mantha but received no response.

Cordonnier said the Building and Planning Department has been very busy with numerous projects in recent months.

AIR Distillerie was promoting the Hawkesbury location as the first of a series of planned locations that were to become visitor destinations.
