On November 3, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) announced that a Montréal man had made a court appearance after being arrested at the end of September in connection with several alleged sexual offences, including ones that occurred in Lachute.

On September 30, investigators from the major crimes division arrested 57-year-old Acher Sabbah. On November 2, he appeared in Laval to face charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and computer luring. The alleged crimes occurred between 2015 and 2019 in the areas of Lachute, Beauharnois and Laval.

The suspect spotted his victims on different chat platforms using the pseudonym “Adam.” There was an exchange by text messages, conversations, and telephone calls, followed by meetings where the offenses were committed.

Since several victims have been identified, the SQ has deployed its structure for managing investigations into Serial crimes. The structure uses a partnership between the SQ and other police forces to quickly identify crimes committed by predators and to arrest them.

The SQ reminds that at any time, the public can also send confidential information to the Criminal Information Center of the Sûreté du Québec at 1 800 659-4264.
