Between October 18 to October 24, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 376 calls for service, which included three individuals charged followed a fraud attempt.

On October 22, shortly after 2:15 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a fraudulent purchase attempt from a vehicle dealership on Laurier Street in Rockland.

During the investigation, police learned that the suspects were to attend the location the next day to complete the fraudulent purchase of a vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old, and a 34-year-old, both of Montreal, Quebec were charged with

  • fraud Over $5,000 CC 380(1)(a) and
  • conspiracy to Commit Indictable offence—CC 465(1)(c).

Also, a 60-year-old male, from Montreal, was charged with

  • fraud over $5,000 CC 380(1)(a) and
  • failure to comply with a release order, other than to attend court—two counts—CC 145(5)(a).

The accused were held for bail and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
