During the period of October 4 to October 17, 2021, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 746 calls for service. These included:

Motorists charged with impaired

On October 6, 2021, shortly after 8:15 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Laurier Street, in Rockland, where an Ontario driver was arrested. There were no injuries.

During the investigation, the driver refused to provide a breath sample and was uncooperative with the officer.

As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Rockland woman was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand CC 320.15(1) and
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs CC 320.14(1)(a)

On October 7, 2021, shortly after 10:45 p.m., a Russell County OPP officer conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offence on St-Guillaume Road in Russell Township, where an Ontario driver was arrested.

During the investigation, an officer utilized an Approved Screening Device (ASD) on the motorist. The driver was transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old male from Orleans, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b);
  • Disobey sign HTA 182(2) and
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available LLA 32(1)

Casselman man hit with two impaired charges

On October 11, 2021, at approximately 5 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Route 200 East in the Nation Township, where an Ontario driver was arrested. There were no injuries.

During the investigation, an officer utilized an ASD on the motorist. The driver was transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old male from Casselman, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs CC 320.14(1)(a) and
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)

On October 15, 2021, shortly before 10:15 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a disturbance complaint on Onesime-Guibord Road in the City of Clarence-Rockland.

During the investigation, an officer utilized an ASD on a motorist. The driver was transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, the same 20-year-old male as in the previous incident, from Casselman, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine CDSA 4(1);
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b) and
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor LLA 32(1)

The motorists received a 90 day driver’s license suspension and the vehicles were also impounded for seven days.

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
