East Hawkesbury to clear sidewalks, install security cameras in St-Eugène

The sidewalks of St-Eugène will be clear of snow and ice this winter for children walking to school.

East Hawkesbury council has directed Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Luc Lalonde to proceed with purchasing equipment and has authorized any hiring necessary for the work to be done.

At the September 13 council meeting, École élémentaire catholique Curé Labrosse teacher and parent Caroline Gauthier appeared before council to request that the township begin to clear the sidewalks in winter for children who walk to school.

No tenders received for community centre heating system upgrade

The deadline set by East Hawkesbury township for tenders from contractors interested in completing the heating system replacement at the Centre d’Action community centre in Ste-Anne-de Prescott passed on September 13. However, no tenders were received by the township, even though eight contractors had requested documents during the tender period.

Grant money from the federal and provincial governments is being used for the project. Even though no tenders were received, the Ontario and federal governments will consider the competitive contracting requirement as having been met.

Council has authorized Lalonde to consult a contractor for the replacement of the heating equipment and insulation.
