With Ontario’s municipal and school board elections taking place on Monday, October 26, residents across the region are encouraged to make sure they are registered to vote and familiarize themselves with their municipality’s voting process before voting begins.

Regardless of where they live, eligible voters are encouraged to confirm that their information is correct on the Ontario Voters’ List before the election. Residents should verify their information before August 12 to avoid delays or having to update their information directly with their municipality later. To vote in an Ontario municipal election, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age on Election Day
  • Live in the municipality, or own or rent property there (or be the spouse of an owner or tenant)
  • Not be prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act.

While each municipality administers its own election, the voting methods and available assistance vary. Residents who have questions about their voter registration, do not receive their voting information before the election, or require accessibility assistance should contact their municipal clerk as soon as possible.

Most eligible voters in the region may cast their ballots between 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, and 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26, using the voting credentials and instructions provided by mail before the election.

Alfred and Plantagenet

Alfred and Plantagenet will mail voter information letters to all electors in the township, enabling voters to cast their ballots by telephone, internet, or at the municipality’s Voter Help Centre.

Those requiring assistance with voting may visit the Voter Help Centre during the election process. Dates and locations for the Voter Help Centre will be announced by the township at a later date.

Casselman

Voters in Casselman will be able to vote during the voting period online or at its Voter Help Centre, located at the Deguire Community Hall at the J.R. Brisson Complex at 758 Brébeuf Street. Dates and times for the Voter Help Centre will be made available once confirmed by the municipality.

Champlain Township

Champlain Township will conduct its election using secure internet and telephone voting.

Voters who require assistance with the internet or telephone voting process can visit the Voter Assistance Centre during the election. The municipality confirmed on its website that locations, hours of operation, and the services available will be announced closer to Election Day.

Clarence-Rockland

Eligible voters will be able to cast their ballots by phone or online beginning October 21 at 9 a.m. using the information found on their mailed voter information cards.

A Voter’s Help Centre will be made available for those seeking assistance with casting their ballots. No location, dates, or times for the Voter’s Help Centre have been confirmed by the city at this time.

Hawkesbury

Residents living in the Town of Hawkesbury will cast their votes through traditional in-person paper ballots. Eligible voters will receive a voter information card by mail outlining details of how, when, and where to vote.

Voter assistance can be requested by contacting the Clerk’s Office on the town’s website or when voting at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex on the following dates/times:

  • Thursday, October 22: between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Friday, October 23: between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 24: between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Monday, October 26: between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

An Election Official will be present at the following retirement homes to allow residents to vote:

  • Place Mont-Roc on Tuesday, October 20, between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
  • Prescott-Russell Residence on Tuesday, October 20, between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • McGill Manor on Wednesday, October 21, between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., and between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

East Hawkesbury

The Township of East Hawkesbury will conduct its 2026 municipal election using only secure internet voting. Eligible voters will receive a voter information letter by mail containing the information needed to access the secure online voting system.

Voters who do not have access to the internet or require assistance are encouraged to visit the Voter Help Centre at 5151 County Road 14, in St-Eugene, where computers and Election Officials will be available. The operational hours for the Voter Help Centre include:

  • October 21, 22, and 23: between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • October 24 and 25: between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Election Day on October 26: between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The Nation

Residents of The Nation can vote by internet or telephone, with information being provided on voter information cards in the mail.

Those requiring assistance with voting can do so at one of two Voter Help Centres:

  • Town Hall at 958 Route 500 West, Casselman
  • Satellite Office at 3248 County Road 9, Fournier

Election Officials will be able to assist voters with the voting process and answer election-related questions on:

  • October 21, 22, and 23: between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • October 24 and 25: between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • October 26: between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Russell Township

Eligible voters in Russell Township will be able to cast their ballots via the internet or phone beginning on October 21. A voter information letter will be mailed to all registered electors and includes the information required to vote, including each voter’s unique Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Voters who want to vote in person or who require assistance can do so by visiting a Voter Help Centre during operating hours. Two Voter Help Centres have been set up by the township, with one being at Town Hall at 717 Notre-Dame Street in Embrun. A second Voter Help Centre in Russell will be announced at a later date.

Hours of the Voter Help Centres will be:

  • October 21, 22, 23: between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • October 24, 25: between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • October 26: between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

North Glengarry

Deputy Clerk Jena Doonan confirmed that voters in North Glengarry will be able to cast their ballots by internet, telephone, or paper ballot. Doonan also said that information regarding voting locations, advance voting options, and voting procedures will be updated on the Township’s website in the near future.

A Voter Help Centre will be set up at a location to be determined from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, though the details are not yet available.

During advance voting days, voters can visit the Township office located at 3720 County Road 34 in Alexandria if they require assistance or need to register to vote.

Residents who do not receive their voter information before voting begins should contact their municipal clerk as soon as possible. Municipal staff can verify voter eligibility, update voter information, and provide replacement voting credentials where applicable.
