The Champlain Library is conducting a membership campaign during the month of September – hosting weekly sign-up events at locations throughout the township.

The library offers free library cards to anyone living in Champlain Township and East Hawkesbury. They are also free to every student who attends a school in Champlain Township, regardless of their home address. This is a big incentive for kids to choose books from the library and read.

Staff from the Champlain Library were out front of the building on Main Street in Vankleek Hill on Thursday, September 2, signing up new members and renewing long-time ones. A second sign-up event is planned at Foodland in the village on Thursday, September 9. Other sign-up events will be held at Scotiabank in Vankleek Hill on September 16; at the historic L’Orignal Jail on September 23, before wrapping up back at the Champlain Library on September 30. All of the sign up events will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

There is also an extra incentive to sign up for a library card during the month. Everyone who signs up for a new library card in September will receive a cell phone cradle and have their name entered into a draw for a chance to win a grand prize. Don’t have a library card yet? Go to the library’s website at bc-cl.ca to complete an online membership form.

The Champlain Library is currently offering curbside pickup, as it is closed to the public at this time. The service is available Monday to Friday from 1 pm to 5 pm. Patrons can reserve items on their card by viewing the online catalogue on the library’s website, by emailing their requests to [email protected] or by calling the library at 613-678-2216 if access to the internet is not possible.

Library staff members look forward to helping you get started to explore your gateway to knowledge. For more information on how to get a library card at the Champlain Library visit bc-cl.ca or call 613-678-2216.
