September starts with school bus and speeding fines in Lachute

At approximately 8 a.m. on September 1, MRC d’Argenteuil Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers stopped a vehicle near a primary school on rue Harriet in Lachute. A 33-year-old woman from Mirabel received a ticket of $315 and nine demerit points for failing to stop her vehicle after passing a school bus with flashing lights on.  

At approximately 2a.m. on September 1, SQ officers stopped a vehicle for excessive speeding on rue Principale Street in Lachute. The driver was traveling at 115 kilometres per hour in a 50 kilometres per hour zone. A 32-year-old woman from Lachute received a ticket totaling $1,313 and 14 demerit points for her speeding. Her driver’s license was suspended for a period of seven days.  

Shortly after 2 a.m. that night, police intercepted a vehicle for excessive speeding on westbound Autoroute 50 in Lachute. The driver was traveling at 162 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometres per hour zone. A 29-year-old Laval woman received a ticket totaling $ 1,238 and 14 demerit points for speeding. Her driver’s license was suspended for a period of seven days. 

At around 5:30 a.m, on September 1, SQ officers stopped a vehicle for excessive speeding on westbound Autoroute 50 at kilometre 235, in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge. The driver was traveling at 160 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometres per hour zone. A 40-year-old man from Terrebonne received a ticket totaling $ 1,088 and 10 demerit points. His driver’s license was suspended for a period of seven days.
