The multiple brief power outages which have affected some customers in Vankleek Hill and the surrounding area should soon be resolved, according to a representative from Hydro One.

Approximately 3,500 Hydro One customers in the Vankleek Hill and surrounding areas have experienced momentary outages, including four outages since Sunday, August 1. The disruptions have led to multiple posts on Facebook by residents who have lost power several times and having been trying to find out what is going on.

“Our crews are completing patrols in the area and have identified a broken insulator in an off-road area, which we believe is the cause of the momentary outages,” said Alicia Sayers of Hydro One’s Communications department, after being contacted by The Review on Monday, August 8.

Sayers said a planned outage may be required in order for crews to replace the failed equipment. If so, all affected Hydro One customers will be notified by auto-dialer in advance if a planned outage is required.

“As an organization that puts our customers first, Hydro One is committed to energizing life in Vankleek Hill and surrounding areas by ensuring safe and reliable power is available for customers,” Sayers said in an email Monday afternoon. “We understand that any loss of power can be difficult and would like to thank our customers for their patience.”
