The lineup has been released for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell’s Canada PR 2021 event on July 1.
Hosted by the comedy-improv duo Les Ptit’s Cousins – namely Jonathan Dion and Miguel Martin – the event will feature artistic performances from all of the municipalities in Prescott-Russell. The celebrations will begin at 6:30 p.m. on July 1 via Facebook Live on the Canada PR 2021 event page here. The broadcast will also be available through the various platforms of the municipalities, the Prescott-Russell Arts Council (CAPRAC) and the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.
CAPRAC and the UCPR communities have lined up a wide variety of local talent from the region to perform on Canada Day. Damien Maze, les Rats d’Swompe, Martine Parisien, Max Richard, Gabrielle Goulet and Marie-Clo are among the headline artists who will perform.
Residents will also have the chance to see performances by 50 PROOF, Andrew Charlebois, Brian St-Pierre, JB Danceworkz, Louis Racine, Lawrence Larouche and Cynthia Martin from MAJINX, Martine Lafontaine and Noah Rivard, Natacha Jackson, Simon Cameron and Tara Shannon.
With Canada Day just two weeks away, the Canada PR 2021 event committee is encouraging Canada Day revellers in Prescott-Russell to celebrate by gathering virtually on July 1. Although citizens throughout the United Counties would have liked a physical event, nothing prevents small gatherings, in backyards and on patios, to enjoy the showcase of local talent.
Residents throughout Prescott-Russell are also invited to let in the festive spirit, share their photos and show how they are celebrating with the #CanadaPR2021 hashtag.
There is also a virtual O Canada sing-along scheduled for the day. To celebrate Canada Day, Prescott and Russell residents are invited to participate in a virtual choir for the interpretation of the national anthem during the unifying concert.
CAPRAC is looking for several clips of different Prescott-Russell residents singing ‘O Canada’ and who are willing to participate in this volunteer opportunity. Whether you are alone or in your social bubble, send in a video of your interpretation of ‘O Canada’ (in the language of your choice) by following the instrumental track through this link.
The age of participants can range from toddlers to adults, and families singing along. The shared posts will be combined into a compilation video with residents from every municipality in Prescott-Russell singing ‘O Canada’ to celebrate Canada Day. Clips can be submitted through this link.
Marie-Clo, an artist who ropes her audiences into a feverish pitch in both official languages, will perform at the UCPR’s Canada PR 2021 event on July 1.
