On May 31, 2021 at approximately 8 a.m., members of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Prescott-Russell Paramedic Service, and the Hawkesbury Fire Department responded to a fatal incident at the parking lot of the mall on Spence Avenue in the Town of Hawkesbury.
A 34-year-old person was transported by Ornge Ambulance Service (ORNGE) to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The second employee was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Charles ‘Ed’ Sproule, age 71, of Champlain Township.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
