June is Seniors Month and the Champlain Library is helping to celebrate older adults in the community. It is also an opportunity to promote the programs and services that are available through the library to help meet the needs of seniors during this difficult time.

This year’s theme is Stay Safe, Active and Connected. Staying active is important for everyone’s health and quality of life. It is recommended that adults ages 65 and over get 150 minutes of physical activity per week. Staying mentally and socially engaged is also key to good overall health along with a healthy diet and a good night’s sleep.

The Library is committed to supporting older adults by offering virtual book club meetings, tech help sessions, craft kits, reader’s advisory resources and home delivery if required. During Seniors Month, the library will have ‘Aging Well’ book bags available, which will include books, magazines, a DVD film, a music CD, a jigsaw puzzle, a colouring sheet and an origami craft.
