The Ville de Lachute wants the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) to repair some miserably rough roads in town, which are under MTQ jurisdiction.

At a special meeting on May 5, council adopted a resolution asking the MTQ to repair the rough sections. Mayor Carl Péloquin specifically mentioned the intersection of Avenue de la Providence (Route 327) and Avenue Hamford, along with the intersection on Avenue Bethany where it meets the westbound on and off ramps for Autoroute 50.

“We’ve received a lot of complaints,” Péloquin said.

The town is requesting that MTQ regional office and Argenteuil Member of the National Assembly Agnès Grondin take action to have the repairs made.

Péloquin suggested the town could put up signs at the intersections reminding drivers that the rough areas are under MTQ jurisdiction.

Truck purchase

Lachute’s public works department is getting a new heavy truck.  On May 5, council approved spending $345,000 for a new, six-wheel truck for the department.

New Treasurer

Effective May 31, Nathalie Derouin will be the new Director of Finance and Treasurer for the Ville de Lachute.  Council approved the signing of the employment contract on May 5.

Derouin is presently the municipal treasurer in Brownsburg-Chatham.
