As of Tuesday, April 20, there were 31 active cases of COVID-19 among residents of the MRC d’Argenteuil, according to the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority.   On Monday, April 19, there had been 40 active cases.

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 across Argenteuil remained at 24 as of Tuesday.

Across the Laurentides region of Québec, there was a total of 519 active cases of COVID-19 as of April 20.

Vaccination information

The Québec department of health and social services reported that 157,269 COVID-19 vaccine doses been administered across the Laurentides territory as of Tuesday.

Astra-Zeneca COVID-19 vaccinations are being offered to adults ages 55 to 79 at clinics without appointment across the Laurentides region.

For all other vaccinations, residents of the Laurentides region of Québec aged 60 (born in 1961 or before) and greater are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19.  Vaccinations MUST be made by appointment and can be scheduled by going to QUÉBEC.CA/VACCINCOVID or by calling 1-866-495-5833.

Cases in schools and long-term care facilities

According to the Québec government, there were active cases of COVID-19 as of April 20 at the following schools in MRC d’Argenteuil communities:

École Dansereau – St-Martin in Grenville

École St-Alexandre in Lachute

École St-Julien in Lachute

École St-Philippe in Brownsburg-Chatham

École Bouchard in Brownsburg

Polyvalente Lavigne in Lachute

Laurentian Elementary School in Lachute

Laurentian Regional High School in Lachute

As of Tuesday, there were no active cases of COVID-19 at long-term care or retirement residences in the MRC d’Argenteuil.

Québec statistics

According to the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ), there were 12,363 active cases of COVID-19 across Québec as of Tuesday, April 20, which was 1,136 more cases than on Monday, April 19.

There were 694 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Québec as of Tuesday, and 177 of those patients were in intensive care.

There had been 10,833 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 across Québec as of April 20, which was an increase of 17 deaths from April 19.

Across Québec, 2,448,409 vaccine doses had been administered as of Tuesday.

Restrictions

Under Québec’s regional system of COVID-19 emergency measures, the MRC d’Argenteuil, and the entire Laurentides region, is a red zone.

The curfew between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m., the ban on gatherings in private homes and on private land, and compulsory working from home remain in effect.  Entry into Québec from Ontario is also restricted in response to Ontario closing its border to non-essential traffic.
