Parents/guardians, staff and students at the following Upper Canada District Board schools received notification within the last 24 hours that at least one individual at their school has tested positive for COVID-19.

  • Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI)
  • Char-Lan District High School (Williamstown)
  • Eamer’s Corners Public School (Cornwall)

At VCI and Eamer’s Corners, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) confirmed the individuals were not at school while infectious, so there was no exposure within the school environment.

Two confirmed cases of COVID-19 occurred at Char-Lan DHS. The EOHU determined in one case the individual was not at school while infectious. Regarding the second case, the health unit is working with the school and actively communicating with anyone who may have had a high-risk exposure.

The health unit and the schools are taking all necessary steps to prevent further spread of the virus in the schools and communities.

All three schools remain open and operating on their regular daily schedule.

The health unit encourage everyone to continue with public health recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and monitor for symptoms carefully.

The health unit and the school board do not release specific details about a COVID-19 case in a school directly to the public. More information about COVID-19 cases in UCDSB schools is available on the  COVID-19 Advisory Information page, or on the Government of Ontario website.

Schools report confirmed COVID-19 cases to the provincial government and it is tracked on the provincial website. It can take up to 24 to 48 hours for the information to be posted, based on the timing of reporting.
