The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) issued more than 96 offences to people violating public health regulations at rental chalets in the Laurentians during the past week.

Police acted on reports that people were having prohibited social gatherings at rental chalets on Route 329 in Mille-Isles and in Labelle.

The amount of the fines ranged between $1,000 and $ 6,000.  According to the SQ, the people were mainly from the greater Montréal area and Ontario. Investigations are continuing with the owners of the cabins to determine if further action may be possible under the Québec Public Health Act.
