The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has confirmed that the lone male occupant of a small aircraft that crashed on Lac Barron in Gore, north of Lachute on Wednesday morning has died.

The crash was reported by witnesses shortly before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.  The person was removed from the aircraft by emergency responders and taken to a hospital where he later died.

A team of investigators from the federal Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has been deployed to the scene to gather information and assess what led to the crash.

According to the TSB, the plane was a Wagaero, amateur-built aircraft.
