Active COVID-19 cases increase across Argenteuil

After declining steadily during the past week, active COVID-19 cases across the MRC d’Argenteuil increased between Thursday, January 21, and Friday, January 22.  According to the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority, there were 45 active cases of COVID-19 among residents of the MRC d’Argenteuil, as of Friday, January 22, and there had been 36 active cases on Thursday, January 21.   There had been 445 cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Argenteuil as of Friday.  Across the entire Laurentides region of Québec, there were 781 active cases of COVID-19 as of January 22.

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Argenteuil remained at 15 on Thursday.

The Québec government reported active cases of COVID-19 at the following schools across the MRC d’Argenteuil as of January 21:

Laurentian Regional High School in Lachute

Laurentian Elementary School in Lachute

École St-Alexandre in Lachute

École St-Julien in Lachute

École Bouchard in Brownsburg

As of January 21, COVID-19 cases were present at the Résidence Médaillion d’or Lachute, and at the CHSLD Argenteuil long-term care facility in Lachute.

Vaccination progress

Across the Laurentides region of Québec, 11,573 people had been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of January 21.

The curfew across Québec intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly until February 8.  All citizens are to remain at home during that time, unless for specific medical, employment, or emergency reasons.

According to the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ), there were 17,757 active cases of COVID-19 across Québec as of Thursday, January 21.  The number of active cases had increased by 1,631 from January 20 to January 21.  There were 250,491 cumulative cases and 223,367 resolved cases across Québec as of January 21.

There were 1,426 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Québec as of January 21, and 212 of those patients were in intensive care.

There had been 9,361 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 across Québec as of January 21, which was an increase of 88 deaths from January 20.
