Argenteuil is going to the red level of Québec`s COVID-19 alert system on Thursday.

Public health authorities in Québec are temporarily putting all regions that are currently orange zones to the red level for COVID-19 protection measures from December 17 to January 11.

The decision is designed to better restrict activities over the holidays that could lead to further spread of COVID-19 among communities.

The only regions of Québec not going to red will go to orange.  They are:

Abitibi-Témiscamingue

Northern Québec

Cote-Nord

Grosse-Île and Iles-de-la-Madeleine

Nunavik

Terres-Cries-de-la Baie James

In the red zones, all private social gatherings will be prohibited.

A temporary ban on traveling to a region at the orange level will be in effect between December 17 and January 11.
