As of Tuesday, December 8, there were 221 active cases of COVID-19 under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit.  There have been 987 cumulative cases under EOHU jurisdiction since the pandemic began and 31 deaths.  As of Tuesday, seven COVID-19 patients under EOHU jurisdiction were in hospital but none were in intensive care.

Long-term care outbreaks

As of December 8, COVID-19 outbreaks were in effect at the Prescott and Russell Residence in Hawkesbury, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care (Quinn House) in Cornwall, Royal Manor Rest Home in Cornwall, and Parisien Manor in Cornwall.

Ontario situation

As of December 7, there were 16,151 active cases of COVID-19 across Ontario, according to the Ministry of Health.  There were 1,676, or 1.3 per cent more active cases on December 7 than on December 6.

The Ministry reported that 110,951 or 84.8 per cent of cumulative cases were resolved as of Monday.  Resolved cases do not include deaths.

There were 794 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Ontario as of December 7.  Out of those 794 patients, 219 were in intensive care, and 132 patients were on ventilators.

There had been 3,808 deaths due to COVID-19 across Ontario as of December 7, comprising 2.9 per cent of all cumulative cases.
