Vankleek Hill Farmers’ Market will be moving indoors for the cold-weather season but it is not moving very far.

Starting November 7, 2020 the weekly Saturday market will be held in the vacant building located at 79 Derby Avenue in Vankleek Hill.

Farmers’ Markets have been declared an essential service in Ontario. Market volunteers have worked diligently to incorporate current COVID-19 protocols such as physical distancing, masks and hand sanitizing in order to assure a safe and secure market.

“This will be an indoor market with restrictions on the number of customers permitted in the building at any one time, with one entrance and one exit to ensure uni-directional movement through the building. Customers are encouraged to order items in advance to allow for efficient collection of their orders at the Market.  A separate entrance for Curbside pick-up of orders will also be available for those who prefer”, according to Aartje den Boer, President of the market’s board of directors.

The Vankleek Hill Farmers’ Market is a year-round market and is instrumental in bringing local growers, producers and artisans together with the community, ensuring availability of local products and supporting the local supply chain.  Volunteers are dedicated and passionate about Farmers’ Markets and the benefits such markets can bring to a community.

This indoor market would not be possible without the support of Champlain Township and approval of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit.
