The CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority will welcome 41 new family physicians to the region during 2021.  Out of the 41, three of the physicians will be practicing in the MRC d’Argenteuil.

The addition of 41 new doctors will mean that more than 600 physicians will be practicing across the Laurentides region.

“The gradual arrival of new general practitioners over the next year will fill positions in different services such as emergency, hospitalization, long-term care, support at home and in family medicine groups,” said CISSS des Laurentides President and CEO Rosemonde Landry.

The announcement followed one made by Québec Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé that 436 family physicians are being added in all regions of Québec.

Each year, physicians are added across Québec according to local needs.

As of January 31, 2020, 80.1 per cent of the Laurentians population was registered with a family physician, a percentage similar to the provincial average of 80.9 per cent.

“We are convinced that the arrival of these 41 family physicians will help us meet the needs of the population while continuing to provide quality services,” said Landry.
