The North Glengarry Fire Department is recruiting. The 2020 Recruitment Campaign will run from September 1 through to October 1 at 4 pm.

“We’re looking for men and women who represent the very best in their community. We are excited to welcome new members to our team and to challenge our residents to ‘answer the call’ and volunteer to become North Glengarry firefighters,” said North Glengarry Fire Chief Matthew Roy.
Previous experience is not required for the position, which will include comprehensive training.
Interested candidates must be located within North Glengarry and available to respond to fires and other emergencies. There is a particular need for candidates located close to Maxville and Apple Hill.
The North Glengarry Fire Department is a rural operation, led by a Chief and Deputy Chief. It is comprised three stations, including:
- Station 1 – Alexandria
- Station 2 – Apple Hill
- Station 3 – Maxville
Each station has a District Chief and Deputy District Chief with approximately 20 volunteer firefighters.
The goal of the Fire Department is to provide fire protection services through a range of programs designed to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants of North Glengarry. This includes responding to fires, sudden medical emergencies, or exposure to dangerous conditions created by humans or nature.
As a North Glengarry firefighter, you would be asked to assist with emergencies both within the Township and in neighbouring communities that have mutual aid agreements with the municipality.
A successful firefighter must possess:
- An outstanding work ethic.
- Pride in oneself and the fire service.
- Good moral character.
- A willingness to learn new skills.
- The ability to work well as a member of a team.
