With summer holiday season in full swing, the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority in Québec recommends that the public do not hesitate to get tested for COVID-19 if they are in doubt about their state of health.

Holidays are often an opportunity to do more activities and therefore to meet more people, which can increase the chances of becoming infected with COVID-19.  The CISSS des Laurentides reiterates the importance of carrying out frequent hand hygiene, maintain a distance of two metre and wear the mask in necessary places and situations.

“On vacation, people tend to adopt behaviour that facilitates a relaxation of the rules to be observed. It is therefore more time than ever to continue to demonstrate vigilance,” said Dr. Éric Goyer, director of public health for the Laurentides.

Tests are taken whenever a person is showing symptoms or because they have been in possible contact with infected or potentially infected people.

The Laurentides region has four designated assessment clinics performing screening in addition a mobile screening clinic. The opening hours and locations can be found in the COVID-19 section at santelaurentides.gouv.qc.ca. Designated assessment clinics offer testing seven days a week. For the mobile walk-in screening clinic, the schedule is also online. The mobile walk-in screening clinic has the capacity to perform 100 screenings per day.

The four designated assessment clinics welcome the population with and without an appointment. The CISSS des Laurentides still recommends making an appointment to avoid possible queues waiting outside. Usually, you will get an appointment in less than 24 hours.
