The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized illegal drugs from a home in Hawkesbury on April 30.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Thursday, officers from the East Region Street Crime Unit, the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment, and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a home on Regent Street.

Police seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, hydromorphone, oxycontin, psilocybin, and crack cocaine. They also seized over $10,000 in Canadian currency.

A 34-year-old woman, and 53-year-old man, both of Hawkesbury, have been charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 – Criminal Code (CC) sec. 354(1)(a)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – two counts

The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on September 9, 2020.

The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are possible.
