The top public health official at the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) said on Sunday that businesses need to take appropriate measures to protect employees and clients from COVID-19.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paul Roumeliotis said more cases are likely in the region and high-risk people should “think twice” before going out anywhere.

He said businesses should provide adequate hand sanitizer or hand washing supplies for employees and clients, and staff should keep their distance from each other in office settings.

“You need to be prepared from a point of business continuity,” said Roumeliotis, meaning that employers should be prepared on how to continue operations if they or their employees are not at work.

Roumeliotis said that anyone feeling unwell should stay at home and not go to work.
