The Glengarry Tartans Alexandria will be celebrating their second anniversary  on Sunday, January 19, 2020 and will be giving back to the community at the same time.

For its first anniversary the group celebrated by hosting a food donation event for St. Vincent de Paul in Alexandria, which provides for those in need.

This year, the group is celebrating by organizing a collection of nearly new clothing to benefit Maison Interlude Alexandria (for women and children dealing with difficult home environments) and as well the Community Assistance Fund Enterprise (CAFE) in Vankleek Hill (clothing items are sold at reasonable costs and those funds are donated to the Vankleek Hill Food Bank).

New and used items are accepted. If you are thinking of joining the celebration, kindly place the items in a white bag and indicate ladies’ or men’s clothing on the front of the bag.  Children’s clothing, mitts hats and scarves would be welcome, too.

You are welcome to join the second-anniversary celebration without making a clothing donation; just come for cake and ice cream at the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for some easy dancing with a few mainstream tips. The cost is $6 for this drop-in event.

Francois Desmarais will be the caller. Dancing is for beginners (basic), with some mainstream and Virginia Reel.
