Last month the Town of Hawkesbury initiated a push for affordable and mixed residential housing. Hawkesbury Mayor Paula Assaly says that with a need for more labour in the offing, she felt there was a need to meet with housing builders, developers and property owners to outline incentives. A spokesperson from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporations(CMHC) and Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP Francis Drouin were present to discuss how to create mixed residential housing.

Assaly says the meeting was a good start and that after the federal election is over, she hopes that there will be some movement on the housing front.
