A Huberdeau fire that claimed two lives is being investigated as a crime scene.

At 2:30 a.m. Thursday, August 1, the fire department and Sûreté du Québec (SQ) responded to a fire at a three-unit building on the main street of the village.

Two bodies were retrieved, which have not yet been identified.

The dwelling has been sealed off and an investigation is underway by the SQ’s Major Crimes Unit.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
